The Sopranos….It was about Family

Filed under: Culture, Entertainment, blogging — avoiceofreason @ 2:15 am

The ending made my wife angry, she wanted more blood and guts.  For myself, I guess I like the idea that life would go on for America’s favorite criminal.

David Chase is the Karl Rove of television.  You can take that anyway you want!

I will say that Phil got what he deserved.

I was on my seat’s edge all night, and for that, I have to say it was a pretty good finale; even if it did leave as many questions unsolved as it solved.

Great run, probably the best cable show ever made.

What do you think?

  1. I think Tony’s gone. The last moment his mind registered before being shot was seeing his daughter enter the restaurant…just like Phil last registered seeing his grandchildren’s face. Lights out…literally. M2

  2. I agree with Maria…Tony and Bobby talked in a previous episode about when it comes your time to die, you don’t hear a thing…you are just gone. That’s what I think David Chase was eluding to. Good Show!!!

  3. Maybe history will tell if Chase is a screen writing genius, but unfortunately for him, history ain’t happened yet. I hated the last two seasons because of the constant disappointments (but watched every episode) and had high hopes for this final episode, and I can say the wait was worth it because I was not disappointed in my consistent disappointment all the way to the end. I found the finale dissapointing.

  5. What could be more cowardly than REFUSING to put your final stamp on the most intriguing anti-hero in recent memory?

Thanks for leaving us at the brink DC!

  6. Perhaps Elizabeth is on to something. The black screen that stayed up for several moments before the credits began rolling could have been symbolic of Tony’s not hearing anything or seeing his death coming.

My husband and I both thought that Tony would be shot in front of his family and that would be how it ended, so maybe we were right without realizing it.

  7. I think you’re a traitor David Chase apologist and are in denial about the true emotional loss the bad ending had on you. Obviously it’s wounded you so deeply you need to identify with the abuser in a sick Stockholm Syndrome power play. Eventually you’ll realize and be brave enough to face the true pain the crappy ending had on you.

And you forgot to take out the garbage.

  9. I’ve never watched the show but keep considering getting it on Netflix because I’m fascinated by the mob and Rush only watches this and 24.

I have no idea what you mean by that.

  12. It’a highly unlikely Tony Soprano was killed in front of his family, there was no reason for Tony to be killed. The rason that Phil was whacked was because he was disruptive, his vendetta against Tony was bad for business. The Madia don’t kill bosses, its a very rare occurence. They want to make money that is what they live for, Phil’s problem with Tony and his insistence on trying to take out the New Jersey Mob was losing people money, disrupting business and drawing attention to them. The easiest solution was to off Phil, which they did, there was absolutely no reason to have another boss i.e. Tony whacked, again very bad for business. Life goes on, the bad guy doesn’t always get caught, this was a serial not a movie, we looked through a window at their lives, that window has now shut. Tony being killed in a bloodbath would have been woefully predictable, go watch Scarface if thats what you want, or some of the other series of The Sopranos. Life isn’t always tied up in a bow for you, get an imagination!

  13. Off topic, but I got a post on my blog recently that is from a “group” that apparently supports violence against teachers on my blog. It seems too stupid to be true, but there it is, and I think it should be something people see for themselves.

  14. Methinks the voiceofunreason is going to get spanked by his little wifey. Must be a Rethug thing. I’m sure its not a toe tapping good time but it will have to do.
